Help prevent spread of invasive species. . .

Protect the future of aquatic resources by preventing the spread of aquatic invasive species (AIS). The number one method for spreading AIS is through the transfer of aquatic plants, animals and water on equipment. After coming off the water, make it standard practice to:

Zebra Mussel

  • INSPECT AND REMOVE all weeds, mud, and aquatic organisms from your watercraft, trailer, and other equipment immediately

  • DRAIN all water from the bilge, live wells, and bait buckets before leaving an access site

  • DRY all equipment completely for 5 days before launching in another body of water

  • NEVER RELEASE plants or animals into a body of water unless they came out of that body of water. Unused bait fish should not be released; they should be disposed of in the trash.

These simple steps will prevent the spread of invasive aquatic plants, fish, mussels and fish pathogens. It is up to YOU to protect the future of our aquatic resources by preventing the spread of aquatic invasive species.
