Wood-Land-Lakes RC&D was asked to explore
sponsoring a stormwater seminar. Under our guidance, a group formed into a
Stormwater
Committee to identify the needs and concerns in our area. Evaluations from
other workshops cited a need for education on post-construction
stormwater control practices. The
Stormwater Committee sponsored a day-long seminar on March 20, 2007 at the Merry Lea Environmental Learning Center
at Wolf Lake, Indiana. Speakers discussed innovative ways to provide
needed post-construction stormwater control. Other topics covered stormwater regulations, overall stormwater design, plant selection,
operation and maintenance. The audience included professionals involved
with design and construction, including consultants, engineers, planners,
landscapers, stormwater operators, county surveyors, and environmental
managers. The committee will review the participant evaluations to
determine the next step to address the stormwater issues. |
