DeKalb County Parks Initiative
(updated 04.08.08)

The DeKalb County Parks Initiative started with a group of people interested in exploring the possibility of establishing a county parks system that would conserve and develop parks for DeKalb County.

Wood-Land-Lakes has made ourselves available to the DeKalb County Parks Initiative group. As a committee under our umbrella, we can provide a variety of assistance including, facilitation of meetings; assistance in locating funding; serving as financial administrators for grants; promotion of networking and communication by bringing all parties to the table; and in organizing, guiding and assisting the group to become a legally recognized not-for-profit organization.

The DeKalb County Parks Initiative is currently on hold, but there is much hope of reviving this worthwhile, county-wide endeavor. DeKalb County residents have voiced a desire for such a park system, and it has been included as part of the DeKalb County Master Plan.

With the interest of some of the original participants as well as new volunteers with a fresh perspective, the DeKalb County Parks Initiative could be well underway to becoming the DeKalb County Parks SYSTEM

Please contact us if you are interested in participating in the DeKalb County Parks Initiative or if you have any ideas or suggestions for a county-wide park system.
