directory provides contact information for technical and financial
assistance, listed by the state tourism regions. This guide is designed
to help someone who is starting a new agribusiness.

This guide was developed by a cooperative group of partners, including
individual Resource Conservation and Development Councils throughout
Indiana, Purdue University Extension, Indiana Office of Tourism, Indiana
State Department of Agriculture, and Kathy Altman Agri-Business
Consulting.
Agritourism is
defined as a working farm or any agricultural, horticultural or
agribusiness operation with the purpose of enjoyment, education or active
involvement in the activities of the farm or operation. Examples of agritourism are:
- farm tours for families and school children,
- day camps,
- hands-on chores,
- self-harvesting of produce,
- hay or sleigh rides, and
- bed and breakfasts
- corn mazes
A National
Agritourism Web site is now online.
Agritourism World is a
national internet directory for agritourism farms. It provides a
comprehensive search engine to help tourists find farms and
help beginning or established farms improve their marketing
and internet presence. Free listings are available to farms, B&Bs,
wineries, or anything else based on the land to help promote web sites and
businesses of agritourism. |
